Location: Left side of Vannoy Road along the North Fork of Reddies River on the Larkin Shepherd homeplace. About one mile north the intersection of Vannoy Road and Old NC 16 in Wilkes County, North Carolina. |
This cemetery was originally larger than the one pictured above. According to Charles Mitchell, a descendant of Larkin Shepherd, the cemetery was originally divided into two parts. One section included graves of slaves, while the other part included Larkin and Alley Irwin Shepherd and their descendants. According to tradition, many of the older Shepherds are buried here.
