Obituary: Myrtle Luna Shepherd Pugh

Myrtle S. Pugh, 89, of ManorCare Nursing Center, Lancaster entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 12, 2012. Her husband, Bryce G. Pugh, passed away in 2002.

Formerly of Millersville, Myrtle worked for Student Services, Inc. at Millersville University, retiring in 1975. Previously, she worked for the former Watt and Shand Department Store in Lancaster. A member of Millersville First United Methodist Church, Myrtle was active in the United Methodist Women's Group. She also served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Millersville. Myrtle enjoyed cooking and traveling to North Carolina to visit her family. Loved by the residents and staff of ManorCare, she was known for her singing and happy disposition. ­Myrtle's family would like to thank the ManorCare staff for their excellent and tender care.

Born in Ashe County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Grover and Ethel Walker Shepherd.

Myrtle will be deeply missed by her daughter, Linda, wife of J. Bruce Heisey of Millersville; her son, Dennis, husband of Betty Mohn Pugh of Ennice, NC; a niece she raised, Brenda, wife of Agnew Reddig of Lititz; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two brothers, Ralph Shepherd of Monroe, NC and Mont Shepherd of Grassy Creek, NC. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Heisey; two sisters, Edith Howard and Betty Ruth Williams; and two brothers, Wilburn and Walter Shepherd.

A Memorial Service honoring Myrtle's life will be held at Millersville First United Methodist Church, 121 N. George St., Millersville on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 2 p.m. There will be no public viewing; however, Myrtle's family will receive friends at the Church on Sunday from 1 until 2 p.m. Interment is private in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
