The Will of
Abraham L. Shepherd

1839 - 1903

Abraham L. Shepherd was a great uncle of
Grover & Harrison Shepherd, and the son of Larkin Shepherd.

State of Kentucky, Lawrence County.

I A.L. Shepherd being of sound and disposing mind and memory make and publish this as and for my last will and testament.

And first, I give and bequeath my soul to Almighty God.

Second, I direct by executrix herein after and to pay all of my just debts, funeral expenses and the expenses incident to the admistration of my estate as soon as reasonably may be after my decease.

Third, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth Shepherd all my property both personal and real to have and to hold during her natural life or as long as she shall remain my widow.

Fourth, I give and bequeath to my two sons Samuel W. Shepherd and George L. Shepherd at my wifes death the two tracts of land known as the Billy Webb and the Sandy Giles tracts each to have an equal share of said land. Samuel Shepherd to pay to Ollie Hicks Ten Dollars $10.00 as her part in my estate. George L. Shepherd to Arthur Webb the sum of ten Dollars $10.00 as hs part in my estate.

Fifth, I give and bequeath to my three daughters Nancy C. Shepherd, Ruth Hicks, and Lucy Shepherd, at my wifes death the home tract of land or home farm.

Should either of my three dauthers Nancy C. Shepherd, Ruth Hicks or Lucy Shepherd die before my wife dies, I give and bequeath her part of my estate to the two other girls named above.

Sixth, I give and bequeath my watch to my grandson Abraham Shepherd.

Seventh, I give to the girls my daughters who are living at my wifes death all of household goods, cattle, hogs and poultry to be divided equally between them.

Eighth, I give and bequeath to my sons George L. Shepherd and Samuel W. Shepherd, at my wifes death, all my horses and wagons and farming tools if there be any.

I do hereby nominate my wife Elizabeth Shepherd as my executrix of my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this February 11th 1902.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by A.L. Shepherd the above named testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us, who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other, have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.

I Add Skeens Clerck of the County Court for the County and State aforesaid do certify that the foregoing will of A.L. Shepherd deceased was on 15 day of August 1904 probated and lodged for record, whereupon the same with this and the fore certified hath been duly recorded in my coffier.
